Good lighting is essential to healthy plant growth. Because the best light comes from the sun, the best indoor lighting most closely mimics the sun's color spectrum. There are several main types of lighting that can grow plants effectively:
Compact fluorescent fixtures are used primarily for leafy greens and vegetative growth, although there are bloom spectrum bulbs available. They produce relatively low heat and get the best results kept 6" to 12" above the plants. We primarily carry in our Lakewood, CO store and recommend Pioneer and Agrobrite T5 fixtures; however, we can special order many other brands. We also stock, top of the line replacement bulbs Vitalume and Hortilux for T5 fixtures.
Currently, the most efficient type of H.I.D lighting is the L.E.C (Light-emitting Ceramic) or CMH (Ceramic Metal Halide) 315-watt fixture. CMH bulbs are mixed spectrum having both blue and red/orange colors. The best bulb to use for these fixtures is the GE Philips MasterColor or GE Phillips MasterGreenPower 315.
Gro Wize carries 3 brands of 315 CMH (All have a bulb included):
L.E.D. fixtures currently on the market, vary greatly in wattage and efficiency. We stock L.E.D. strip lighting and are a distributor for:
